de Villiers, Pierre Francois
Pierre Francois de Villiers (1921 – 2007) was born in 1921 in Cape Town, South Africa. A painter of landscapes, still life seascapes and wildlife. Works in oils and acrylic. Series of paintings of the Malay Quarter, Cape Town and of flowers. In 1930 he studied privately under Maggie Laubser in Cape Town; 1937 drawing lessons at the Cape Technical College.
He has participated in many group exhibitions in Durban. His first 10 solo exhibitions held in 1974 Royal Hotel in Durban. Numerous works by the artist have been sold at auction, including ‘Pilgrims Rest in the Eastern Transvaal’ sold at Bonhams New Bond Street “The South African Sale” in 2008.
