Rennie, Richard
Richard Rennie’s interest in art extends all the way back to his childhood where he grew up on a farm in Zimbabwe. After completing high school, he attended the Durban Art School and embarked upon a successful career in the Advertising Industry. In 1987 he committed himself to the challenging life of a full time artist.
He began painting in oils but soon changed to watercolours as this medium allowed him spontaneous commitment of idea to paper. His work has been presented in both solo and combined exhibitions throughout South Africa. His paintings and prints can be found gracing homes and businesses as far afield as Australia, Europe and America.
His originals are hanging in some of South Africa’s most prominent companies, i.e: Anglo American, Barlows, Plascon Paints and Tongaat-Hulett. His originals have also been chosen by South African Airways and are hanging in SAA Business Class Lounges all over the world.
His has become a highly successful demonstrator in watercolours and has run workshops in all parts of South Africa. He has also rekindled his passion for oils. With this versatile media his work can be viewed as almost abstract landscapes and lends itself more towards a younger and modern market.
