Gericke, Anton
Anton Gericke was born in Johannesburg in 1947. He started painting with oils when he was 8 years old. During his schooldays he earned lots of pocket money for portraits that he painted in oils for staff members (waiters) and stewards who approached him. He attended school in Pearson Port Elizabeth and furthered his studies in Pharmacy at Pretoria University and Portchefstroom.
He painted with some well known artists and was particularly influenced be artists Errol Boyle, Wessel Marais, Dale Elliot and Pieter Millard.
Anton and Ronel’s daughters, Murentia Moffat and Carla Bosch, were made aware of being observant to the beauty of God’s creation.
During the last 40 years, Anton was very active in Community Pharmacy Service in Pretoria City Centre as Debruynpark Pharma Friend and also as Saxophonist at Doxa Deo.
Anton is now a full time artist.
